“Tulip Fever” is an upcoming historical drama film directed by Justin Chadwick and written by Sir Tom Stoppard, adapted from a novel by Deborah Moggach. It stars Alicia Vikander, Dane DeHaan, Zach Galifianakis, Judi Dench, Christoph Waltz, Jack O’Connell, Holliday Grainger, Matthew Morrison and Cara Delevingne. Set in the Netherlands in the 16th century, during the period of the tulip mania, an artist (Dane DeHaan) falls for a married young woman (Alicia Vikander) while he’s commissioned to paint her portrait by her husband (Christoph Waltz). The two invest in the risky tulip market in hopes to build a future together.

The film is set to be released in the United States on August 25, 2017, by The Weinstein Company. It seems to be a troubled production. In December 2015, the first image of the film featuring Alicia Vikander and Christoph Waltz was released. The film was originally scheduled to be released on July 15, 2016 but was delayed until February 24, 2017 with rumors of re-editing, as Harvey Weinstein was “unhappy” with the final cut. However, it was later pulled from the schedule and moved to August 25, 2017.

The score of the film is composed by Danny Elfman and will be released on CD on March 10, 2017 by Sony Classical. It is already released in Europe.
